Kansai Japanese Steakhouse, located in Elizabethtown, KY, presents an exhilarating dining experience with its diverse range of Japanese cuisine. The restaurant is particularly noted for its fresh seafood and sushi, which consistently impresses patrons like Patricia Andrews, who lauded the quality and prompt service. Offering items like Dungeness crab, shrimp, and a variety of sushi rolls, Kansai allows diners to create their own seafood boil combos, a unique feature that adds a personal touch to the meal.
However, experiences can vary. While many enjoy the lively, interactive grill seating where chefs showcase their skills, some diners, like Rajesh Patil, found the flavors at the grill somewhat lacking in authenticity, veering towards a more generic taste. Service can be hit or miss, with occasional lapses noted by Ed Smith, emphasizing the need for attentive staff.
Overall, Kansai Japanese Steakhouse invites you to explore an exciting blend of flavors, vibrant atmospheres, and engaging service amidst the occasional hiccup. It’s an adventure worth embarking on if you're craving a memorable Japanese culinary experience.

Reviews for Kansai Japanese Steakhouse
Review highlights
Based on 1,436 reviewsKansai Japanese Steakhouse is widely recognized for its fresh ingredients, particularly seafood, vegetables, and sushi, with many patrons appreciating the hot and timely preparation of their meals. The live grill seating offers an engaging dining experience, although some guests have noted spatial discomfort and seating arrangement issues around the grill area. While the appetizers and sushi receive favorable remarks for authenticity and flavor, the grilled dishes occasionally draw critiques for leaning towards a more generic Asian taste rather than traditional Japanese cuisine. Service quality appears inconsistent, with some diners praising attentiveness, while others report lapses that affect the overall experience. Pricing is viewed as relatively high, which may influence repeat visits for some customers.
Excellent place for fresh vegetables and seafood. They also have fresh sushi. Everything was cooked nice and hot not a long wait and service was totally amazing.
The only complaint about the service is, the seating around the grill. Everyone had a good spot except for me. I was placed on the far end of the curved table. The cook/server had to be careful not to bump into me when going in and out of the middle. Also, it felt like I had only half of a area to even have my plate. But I did insist that the area was fine, even when the server suggested that I could be placed somewhere else.
A decent spot for Japanese dinner overall. The food starts off promising—especially the appetizers and sushi—but the experience changes once you move to the grill seating. While it’s fun to watch the chef cook right in front of you and engage in a bit of playful interaction with the food, the flavors at the grill tend to resemble more generic Asian cuisine rather than authentic Japanese. Still, it's a lively and entertaining experience.
Ordered a Dragon Roll and a sweet tea. Pretty pricey and several items are A La Carte. I think my server went to a table on the other side and fell asleep after he brought me my food and drink. The waitress had to go wake him up. I was wondering why he hadn't brought me the check yet. The dragon roll was expensive compared to other places but it was good. For the price, I probably won't return. The service? Maybe he had had a long night.
